Kfz.79 Werkst.Kw, also known as workshop motor vehicles, formed the backbone of motor vehicle and tank workshops platoons and companies nationwide. When transporting these vehicles via rail on low-ceilinged lines or through tunnels, the roof had to be significantly lowered. This entailed removing the upper side elements as well as the rear door's upper sections and stowing them safely inside the vehicle's box body. In addition to these motor vehicles, several 2-axle trailers with a substantial payload capacity of 5 tons (soon to be introduced) were employed for transporting crucial spare parts.
