Demag Cranes AG, a German heavy equipment manufacturer now controlled by US-based Terex, recently established new headquarters for its operations. The company's roots can be traced back to 1906 when it became Märkische Maschinenbau-Anstalt, Ludwig A.-G and emerged as the largest crane building firm in Germany with a workforce of 250-300 employees. Over the years, Demag has been known for manufacturing various types of industrial cranes such as bridge cranes, hoists, overhead cranes, and gantry cranes. In 1910, the company was abbreviated to Deutsche Maschinenfabrik in Duisburg, which is now known as Demag Cranes & Components GmbH. In 1973, The Mannesmann group took over ownership of Demag, leading to the company's continued growth and strategic restructuring under its core business.
