I was fished for this topic by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3212906 . This ingenious concept had to be tried out, and I'm thrilled with the results. Since I started using my own version on my AM8 a few weeks ago, everything has been smooth sailing. One of the things that really stood out was the accuracy of the measurements - it's been fully confirmed. The cost of the parts I purchased is very reasonable: * 1 Servo SG90 or MG90S costs around $3.00 * 1 Optical Endstop RAMPS 1.4 - 3D Printer RepRap costs about $1.50 To get the desired level of smoothness and accuracy, it's essential to print each part carefully. I made sure to keep the tolerances tight for all the individual parts, especially the measuring rod. After printing, I had to carefully machine the measuring rod so that it would slide smoothly through the guide without any play. Once the measuring rod and guide in the upper part were machined, I glued the upper part to the base plate using "UHU - hard plastic". The measuring rod and cover should be printed with a dark, opaque filament, preferably black. I use RAMPS 1.4 in my printer, so make sure to pay attention to the correct polarity of the connectors. My printer runs Marlin 1.19, and I've listed my settings for the ABL sensor in MarlinSetup.txt. To adapt the ABL sensor to your needs, I've included the OpenScad file. Here are the print parameters I used: * Filling density: 40% * Measuring rod: 80% * Layer height: 0.12mm * Vertical contours: 4 * Horizontal contour sleeves: 4 * Printing speed: 80mm/s (measuring rod and upper part: 40mm/s) * Support is not required. If you're able to print this successfully, I'd be really happy if you could give it a Like!
