HP P3005 Thrust Stopper p/n RC2-0657-000

The P3005 Laserjet printer is a dependable workhorse, but its lifespan can be extended with some basic maintenance. After printing numerous pages, replacing the fuser drive gears becomes necessary, a relatively inexpensive fix costing around $15. One of the gears is secured by a small clip that HP refers to as the "thrust stopper." The replacement instructions caution against dropping the clip inside the printer. Unwilling to spend $10 on a tiny piece of plastic or wait weeks for international shipping, I designed an alternative solution. This part features many intricate details, but their purpose and necessity are unclear. Nevertheless, I chose not to second-guess the HP engineers' design decisions and aimed to reproduce every detail accurately. Using PLA through a 0.2mm nozzle at a speed of 2400mm/min produced excellent results. The printed clip functions identically to its original counterpart.
