HP Network and Spectrum Analyzer Accessory Power Plug
thingiverse
HP RF test equipment utilizes a small three-pin connector to supply power to external probes and accessories directly. Unfortunately, HP does not make these readily available, nor are they a standard item that can be easily purchased through Digi-Key or other suppliers. If you wish to create custom accessories for HP Network or Spectrum Analyzers, including bespoke probes, pre-amps, fixtures, etc., being able to power them from this internal source rather than relying on a separate power brick or batteries is highly beneficial. This design is straightforward and has been used successfully with various cables and gadgets - I typically employ 7805 and 7905 regulators in my designs to regulate the power down to ±5V. The connector body has the correct geometry to align perfectly with the pins of the HP female connector, making it an ideal choice for this application. IC socket pins, discarded DB-25 pins, or other suitable materials can be soldered and friction-fitted into the hole with minimal effort required. Some scavenging may be necessary to acquire the necessary components. A groove is also provided that enhances the grip of heat shrink at the transition point from the cable to the connector, ensuring a secure connection.
