Hardware required:
**2x #4-40 3/8in screws.** Any head style should do (I used some random ones I had, but I sized the holes a bit larger to also fit button heads). These are to hold the RJ45 connector to 3d printed part (screws in from inside of the case - longer than 3/8" will protrude from the plate out the back, and shorter will not reach the plate). **3x M2x3mm screws.** 1x to hold the board into the E-Key m.2 wi-fi slot, and 2x to hold the 3D printed part to the motherboard (your 800 G3 may include these - check to be sure. Mine just included two since it did not come with a wi-fi board/). For the one I was missing, I used the M2x3 from this kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FTI8TM8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 **1x DFRobot FIT0798** (https://www.dfrobot.com/product-2318.html)
Description
I wanted to put a second NIC on my two EliteDesk 800 G3 Mini "servers" I recently acquired, but didn't want to use USB adapters - I wanted something built in. After scouring the internet, I ran across this: https://www.dfrobot.com/product-2318.html I purchased mine from: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/dfrobot/FIT0798/14824986 Details in case those link goes down eventually: DFRobot FIT0798. M.2 (A+E Key) to Gigabit Ethernet Module for LattePanda Alpha and Delta. Box is marked as: Winyao Part # 8111-M2-C All of the other adapters online that I could find had the connectors straight up - this one does not, so fits perfectly under the HDD cage. Unfortunately, there do not appear to be any 2.5gbe alternatives at this time. I've got them successfully working in Proxmox with link aggregation to my Brocade switch.
Potential Mod Required
Note that the corner of the board will push against the airflow guide that goes on the CPU cooler (see pictures, I have a red square around the corner illustrating this). On one of them I cut the corner off, but on the other one I just left it, and have it pushing against it. You may or may not need to cut or file the corner of yours.
Fit Disclaimer
This was only tested on the 800 G3 65w variant. I do not have access to the 35W - based on the pictures, it should fit, but let me know if you give it a try. Also, based on the pictures, this MIGHT work on the 800 G4 mini... at least from the pictures, it looks like the same Flex IO adapters used, but don't know. Let me know if you give it a try.
