I recently received my copy of the Hellboy board game and I'm super excited to play it! After reading through the rules, I was a bit worried about how to track monster hitpoints though. The game uses little chits that you set next to each monster on the board, to show how much damage they've taken. Given that things can get pretty chaotic, I was worried that we'd lose track of which monster had how much damage. Also, I figured that it'd be a lot easier to move the monsters around (like when they get hurled by one of Hellboy's big punches) if I didn't need to worry about those little things... so I designed my own HP tracker!

This is a simple tracker that goes from 1 to 10, with the top and bottom held together by a 10 mm magnet and a 19 mm steel disc (the same magnet/disc combo that I used for my magnetic miniature bases: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3442245). I put little notches in it, so that way the dial will stay set on whatever value you put it at (and it has a nice tactile click when you turn it). The drawback to that is that the placement of the number strip is important - when you glue it on, you've got to make sure that the grey lines between the numbers line up with those little bumps on the bottom (I've included my number strips as both a .png and .svg file).

To make this work with the Hellboy minis, I'm just gluing one of those 19 mm steel discs into the base of each model, in the cavity that's already there. Also, this HP tracker is built to work with my magnetic miniature bases. The magnet that holds the bottom of the HP tracker on will also hold on a miniature (on an appropriate base)! While this makes the miniatures a lot taller, it also makes it much easier to grab them by the base instead of by the model, so I think that the height is actually a feature ;)

As always, the .blend file for this model is available to my patrons at https://patreon.com/VirtuallyJason.
