The infamous "blue handle" on the Designjet 500 series, likely identical in mechanics to the 800 model, frequently malfunctions. Replace it with a $6 part shipped from China and keep your plotter/printer operational by bypassing the interlock switch. Simply insert the new handle and twist it into place to lock it securely.
