How To Model a Tire for 3D Printing in Blender
pinshape
Summary Get a detailed guide on using Blender to model a tire by applying image-based displacement mapping for surface texture. This workflow can be adapted for any cylindrical shape. I demonstrate how to bisect the model for better FDM printing and add holes for guide pins. https://youtu.be/JCVcxZe2awc The project includes the blender source files with packed image maps inside, as well as a second file with the tire bisected for FDM printing, shown at the end of the video. I also provide .stl files that can be printed directly. Use filament scraps about 1cm long as registration pins to join the bisected tire. Please share your own tire design creations and "LIKE" this project if you find it useful.
