HoverGames GPS + Radio Mount
thingiverse
This bracket was created for the KIT-HGDRONEK66, a NXP HoverGames kit that uses the _LJI X4 500_ quadcopter frame as its base. It was built for the Guardian Angel submission in the HoverGames Challenge 1: Fight Fire with Flyers contest. The purpose of this bracket is to securely attach the GPS antenna and telemetry radio, improving on the standard method described in the NXP HoverGames instructions. Normally, the GPS antenna is mounted using a '+' configuration, secured with three screws to the drone's top plate. This orientation causes the GPS antenna to fold down at 45° to the drone's body. The telemetry radio is typically attached using double-sided tape and a single cable tie. To secure the GPS antenna at 90° to the drone's body and use only one screw, this design orients it in an 'x' fashion. For the telemetry radio, a bracket has been created so that it can be secured with just cable ties and its antenna folded down. This design assumes 2.5mm x 100mm cable ties but can be adjusted using the Customizer. It also requires the top plate cut-out used by the LJI X4 500 kit, the base of a Holybro Pixhawk 4 GPS, and a Holybro Telemetry Radio. Any different cut-out or component geometry would need to modify the OpenSCAD file included.
