Hover Board Grip
thingiverse
My wife and I teamed up to build 3 out of the 5 futuristic hover boards from Back to the Future 2. We even dressed up as Griff's gang when we hosted a comic book convention and got to meet the cast of Back to the Future in person. Although there were some online resources that helped us along, we still had to come up with our own custom designs for many of the parts. This is one of those custom pieces. I added 2 holes at the top and another 2 at the bottom so they could be securely attached to a foam base using screws. The core of the hover boards was made from pink FOAMULAR C-200 Extruded Polystyrene Rigid Insulation - it's 1/2 inch thick and I picked some up from Home Depot. You can check out my wife's blog post about making these hover boards in a Back to the Future style at https://sweetmagpie.com/making-hoverboards-back-to-the-future-style/. We also sourced most of the other parts for the hover board from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1750752/apps/print/#apps. A huge thank you goes out to @Imirnman!
