Housing for Thermal Safety Cutoff Switch

Housing for Thermal Safety Cutoff Switch

I just built my ToM and I'm still experimenting with it, which is why I created a custom enclosure for the safety cutoff switch on my ToM, because the original look was not up to par with its exposed wires everywhere. There are two parts to this enclosure, both of which snap together perfectly (with some minor cleaning needed on my print and probably yours too, even though I included a 0.05mm clearance around the joining faces). No modification of the switch is required, it's as simple as replacing the two spacers with the base and snapping the top cap in place. The base simply replaces the original spacers, while the top cap just snaps on and the LEDs slide right inside. My design has "NORMAL" and "FAULT" engraved on the top of the case in very small letters, but unfortunately, they didn't show up in my print or the .STL file, which I think is due to the resolution being too low for Skeinforge. The insides of both parts turned out much better than the outsides, and I don't believe it's because of any design errors - I think it's just a matter of adjusting the Skeinforge settings. This design was based on digital caliper measurements of the Generation 4 cutoff switch and requires no modification to the MakerBot-supplied circuit-board or any part of the ToM itself. I haven't yet fitted my housing on my thermal safety cutoff switch, so I'd love to hear from you if this design needs any changes. And if anyone has made any adaptations or modifications to this design, please share them with me along with some photos of successful builds. Thanks! P.S. As of December 31st, 2011, I still haven't mounted my Safety Cutoff Switch inside this housing because I'm not happy with the way it looks (tons of voids in the bottom halves of both pieces, which were printed face-down on a raft).
