Housing for ESP32 based WiFi+BlueTooth+GPS project based on the awesome work of Mark Lord as discussed on the Cloudy Nights forum. Please see Mark's link for his instructions: http://rtr.ca/esp32_wifi+bt+gps/ ------------------------------------------------------------ To make the components fit, I used the following: - ESP32 module, exactly as shown in the instructions. - 5x7cm PCB prototype board (on eBay, Amazon or AliExpress), which can be slotted into the base.* - MP1584EN or MP2307 based buck converter (LM2596 may be too big). - RJ12 flat cable, recommend less than 30cm (12"). - Micro switches, no more than 14mm in length and 4.8mm in height (chassis measurements only).^ - BN-180 GPS module, which should snap into place without adhesive. NOTES: * To align the ESP32 module and PCB board to the USB housing port, mount the ESP32 on the third column, placing pins into row M & row C of the PCB (keeping to the same orientation as the instructions). E.g. VIN should be on M3, and 3V3 on C3 etc. Better yet, print first then mount after. * The width probably doesn't matter so much. I was able to cut my switches to size (redundant pins, protruding bits), bend the pins backwards, and pop them in without any adhesive. However because switches come in an assortment of different sizes, there is no guarantee any switch will just fit. Make sure you bend the pins backwards and solder before installing, then afterwards use hot glue (for smaller switches). The handle length used is about 6mm, but it is possible to go shorter. Unfortunately, the switches I personally used for the project are no longer being manufactured, though there are many on AliExpress to choose from. ------------------------------------------------------------ Print the upper housing in default orientation with supports (yes there will be a lot). It is possible to print with very minimal supports when faced down, but I don't recommend doing this as it will look unsightly (I know....I tried it). Print the lower housing in default orientation without supports. Printed on Prusa Mini at 0.15mm layer height, 15% infill, using a mix of cheap PLA.
