These are the printed parts for the Duet3D Laser Filament Monitor prototype, as described at https://duet3d.com/wiki/Duet3d_Filament_Monitor:_laser_version. The components must be printed in black plastic to ensure optimal functionality. To achieve the best results, we recommend printing with a 0.2mm layer height, which will provide a smooth and precise finish. The Customizer tool allows you to fine-tune the design by adjusting the height of the filament above the PCB for maximum detection accuracy by the laser. Simply choose a multiple of your selected layer height that works best for your specific setup. After experimenting with different values, we found that 6mm seems to be an effective choice when using 1.75mm filament. Additionally, you can adjust the diameter of the hex clamp for the PTFE inlet and output tubes to ensure a secure fit for your 4mm OD PTFE tube. A diameter of approximately 4.6mm has proven to be a good starting point for this application.
