Household tap hose adapter
prusaprinters
Quick release adapter to connect a 1/2" hose to a household tap. When the hose is not connected, the tap remains functional for normal use.Works with the standard kind of household water taps found here in Switzerland.Operation (see pictures):Print the top part in at most .1mm layer height or else the thread won't print properly. The bottom part can be printed with a coarser setting (eg. .2mm). PETG is recommended, PLA won't support the load and water. The bottom part should be printed upright, with supports. Some support material might get printed inside the connector, make sure to remove all support material before operation.Unscrew the water filtering element from the tap. It should be a thin 1mm pitch screw. Remove the plastic filter from the original part, and place it inside the printed “top” part. Now screw the top part into the tap. Make sure it is tightly screwed or else it will come loose in the next steps!Use a ½" brass connector to adapt your water hose, and screw the brass connector onto the “bottom” part. Insert a rubber gasket into the part (19.5mm/25.5mm inner/outer diameter, 3mm thick). The hose can now be quickly connected and disconnect from the tap with a simple twist! The fit is very tight at the beginning, but it loosens over time. You may have to grind the mating parts a tiny bit if it doesn't fit.The seal is not perfect. On a good day you don't get any leak, but usually there is a very moderate drip.
