The desk that once dominated the House of Representatives had its origins in Boston in 1857 at the skilled hands of craftsmen Doe and Hazelton. The iconic piece remained a fixture in the US House of Representatives until 1873. Characterized by stars and stripes, it boasts an elevated section for holding a quill pen and ink. This singular desk bears the distinction of being number 83, having been employed by Thaddeus Stevens from Pennsylvania - an unwavering proponent of slavery's abolition.
