House Numbers with drop shadow

House Numbers with drop shadow

thingiverse

I was in dire need of new house numbers, but all the options at my local hardware store were utterly unexciting. I have a fondness for the sleek look of drop shadows in desktop publishing, so I decided to see if I could replicate that effect here. To my delight, it worked out beautifully. I only completed 1, 3, and 6, but if anyone is interested in the rest of the numbers, just let me know and I'll be happy to add them here. The letters are a substantial 200mm tall, with holes (conveniently hidden within the drop shadows) spaced 100mm apart. They measure a sturdy 4mm thick. I had to perform a filament change halfway through the process, which resulted in a clever contrast between the bottom layers, painted with black to create the drop shadows, and the top layers, finished in a shiny silver that looks stunning under headlights.
