Hourglass - Spiral Vase

The Hourglass comes in four different models and can be fitted with 4 different types of caps, so you can mix whatever you think is the nicest.

When printing the hourglass, print the hourglass itself using spiral vase mode, and print thick layers to improve transparency. I printed 0.3mm layers with a 0.6mm nozzle. both transparent and semitransparent materials can be used. I used clear transparent PETG.

The you need to print the caps, these can be printed with a finer layerheight to get themto look nice, and these can be printed in any color and material.

once you have printed the parts, you need to find some sand, i went to my local beach, but it can also be from a sandbox in the area. Once you have the sand i should first be 100% dry, otherwise is will stick together and never run through the hourglass. Once the sand is dry, use a fine sift to remove bigger stones and other objects from the sand. Once all this is done, simply fill the sand in the hourglass, put on the cap and start timing.

By adjusting the amount of sand or the grain size the time of the hourglass can be controlled.

the finer the sand, the faster the hourglass.

Good Luck and Happy Printing!!!!
