I'm joining the never-ending battle between gardener and squirrel this year by experimenting with an electric fence. I've set up a three-feet-tall chicken wire barrier around my tomato bed, topped with a thin layer of aluminum wire that carries a lethal voltage. The aluminum wire sizzles hot, and the chicken wire remains securely grounded through its connection to the fence charger's earth terminal. According to theory, any curious squirrel attempting to climb this impenetrable barrier will suffer a severe shock once it reaches the topmost wire. To prevent electrical discharges from spreading between sections of the fence while maintaining proximity, I designed an ingenious little clip that links fence posts and aluminum wires at precise intervals. As luck would have it, within just a few short weeks, I expect to enjoy all the luscious tomatoes I could ever want, documenting my encounters with persistent squirrels for the world to see on YouTube. Created using Tinkercad's design platform and printed with eco-friendly natural PLA material at .2 mm thickness with 20% infill density. This prototype hasn't yet undergone testing while powered by an electric current.
