Hotshoe Diffuser Clip for SLR Camera
thingiverse
To soften flash effects in portraits, you can use this improvised diffuser that clips onto your SLR camera's built-in flash. Simply deploy the built-in flash and attach the diffuser; it holds a standard business card with its white side facing upwards. The flash then bounces off the card and ceiling, reducing harshness. This design is adapted from the Nikon hotshoe cover model by TheCase, but scale it down to 0.95 for Olympus SLR (E500) compatibility. Other SLR brands may work with adjustments; share your experiences! For printing, set the shell count at 1 extra and infill at 0.2 on a Prusa Mendel. Use a slow print speed of 5-15 mm/s for proper overhang printing. While still warm, use a flat head screwdriver to check and clear any plastic strings from the clip's space. Additionally, you may need to sand down the lower part of the clip using a Dremel for a smooth finish.
