Hotend support for direct drive

Greg's extruder on my Prusa i3 has been stuttering recently, and it appears the major gear needs replacement. This is a good opportunity to test how well direct drive works with my new hotend. The extruder can be fitted with a hotend such as this one: http://reprap-fab.org/shop/product_info.php?products_id=103, or any other with the same mount. The parts for the direct drive can be obtained from bdring's design at thingiverse.com/thing:38281 or this alternative design at thingiverse.com/thing:137806.
