HotEnd Grinding Tool (Schleiflehre) for Noozle and Heatbreak
cults3d
When assembling a printhead HotEnd, the contact surfaces of the nozzle and heatbreak must be absolutely flat against each other to prevent molten filament from escaping at the contact surface. To do this, you can lightly sand both surfaces with fine sandpaper or a flat grinding stone. The respective component must be absolutely perpendicular to the grinding surface, which is certainly a problem freehand. This "grinding gauge" helps to align the two components correctly. This ensures a perfect contact surface of both parts afterwards. The grinding jig has the appropriate cylinders for the nozzle and the hotend to ensure maximum alignment. I applied a thin Teflon foil to protect the jig itself during grinding and to ensure a smooth grinding motion. Usually a few pulls are enough, depending on the grinding material used. Tested for components of an E3D-V5 HotEnd.
