Hotend Fan Shroud Cover Remix
thingiverse
Update: This decorative shroud is purely aesthetic, offering no noise reduction benefits whatsoever. It also struggles with securing itself properly, so take its performance claims with a grain of salt for now. I was drawn to Sebastian's fan shroud design on Thingiverse but found the text unnecessary, which allowed me to orient my print in a way that enabled supportless printing - roughly half the time it would have taken otherwise. To create this adaptation, I simply imported the original file into Tinkercad and used an eraser block to fine-tune the angle to perfection. Upon first importing the design into Cura and aligning it for printing, I noticed it was slightly raised, which could have led to a failed print attempt. A second try got the orientation just right, so be sure to check your preview before hitting print. I might experiment with embedding text or designing an image onto the surface of this shroud in the future, but for now, it's been added to my ever-growing list of projects to tackle. Update: After printing and installing this shroud, I discovered that it fails to impact sound volume levels in any meaningful way.
