Hotend Adapter Hexagon to Printrbot
thingiverse
My Printrbot hotend's life had come to a sudden end after about three years of constant use, and I was left with only one extra hotend - a Hexagon hotend. The problem was that the hexagon hotend is significantly shorter than my original Printrbot hotend, making it impossible for me to use due to the setup of my printer. This challenge sparked an idea in me to come up with a way to adapt the hotend I had to fit perfectly on my Printrbot. And so, this part was born - a hotend adapter designed specifically to allow my hexagon hotend to work seamlessly on my Printrbot. The PTFE adapter offers users the convenience of running a PTFE tube directly from the extruder to the hotend, resulting in a more direct filament path and improved performance. Printer Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Printrbot Go V2 Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: This part is quite easy to print, but a precise fit is crucial, so be mindful of over/under extrusion. Parts Required 1x Hexagon Hotend 1x Hexagon Hotend Adapter 1x Bowden M6 Push Fitting 1x Some Bowden tube Required Tools Blue Loctite Super Glue X-acto knife or any tool to cleanly cut a PTFE tube Wrench for fitting Assembly Instructions First, remove the blue/black plastic part from the push fitting. This part is responsible for releasing the bowden tube, so do not expect it to be removable once installed. Next, add some blue loctite to the fittings threads and thread the fitting onto the hotend, ensuring a tight fit. Then, take the fitting and apply some super glue to the outside (optional: roughing up the surface may improve adhesion). Tightly press the fitting into the printed part supplied here. If it is a tight fit, you can unscrew the fitting and use a vice or other tool to press it in further, but make sure the fitting can screw in far enough for a tight seal against the hotend (add loctite again). Finally, insert the PTFE tube and cut it flush with the end of the adapter. You can also leave some length at the end to run all the way to the drive gears, but remember that this cannot be removed.
