Hot Wire Foam Cutter
pinshape
This is a precision cutting tool for hot-wire foam sculpting (NiChrome wire sold separately). Currently under development: The edges need to be adjusted further from the screw holes, as my initial print started tearing in several places after I inserted the screws. Still experimenting with power sources. A 5V 1A USB adapter delivers sufficient heat for a slow cut. In contrast, 6.5V from a pack of four AAAs worked well initially but failed due to rapidly dropping battery voltage. The holes are precisely 3mm in diameter. Any self-tapping screws that fit snugly within this measurement should be effective. The countersunk screws I used necessitated finding hex nuts to securely clamp my NiChrome wire against the tapered surface.
