A Smart Solution for Supporting Your Hottub Spa Cover. I was fed up with the lifter support arm stretching and tearing the middle seam of my hottubs, which ruins the cover and increases the gap allowing heat to escape. 1. The arm of a typical spa hottub cover lifter should not be positioned in the middle where the cover folds. This creates unnecessary torque and stretches and damages the cover. The arm should be adjusted shorter to be about 1/4-1/3 distance offset from the center as shown in the picture. For my cover, I had to cut the arm with a hacksaw and drill new holes for self-tapping screws in order to reposition my crossbar 1/4 offset from the center. 2. Print four bracket pieces and glue two back to back to make one bracket. 3. Purchase two simple straps from the dollar store and loop them through the bracket and around the hottub lift bar. Adjust accordingly. My bracket slipped in nicely to the lift handles to remain secure, but these brackets can simply rest in place anywhere on the edge of the cover. 4. Pictures are self-explanatory.
