Background:

I don't know about you, but I never use the hot shoe mount on my DSLR (I even had to google what it was called), so I was inspired to make use of it. A Micro SD card fits absolutely perfectly into the normally empty space, so there's no reason to not keep some spare, backup storage there. This his can save you if you've gone out with your camera and left your main SD card in your Laptop at home (I've done that way too much).

If you print this model, please post a make if it fits your camera : )

Printing:

Sony variant is a bit shorter to fit most Sony cameras, all other cameras should fit generic/Canon Variant.

Due to the small size, print in as high quality as possible. Even on an Ender 3 V2 it only took 20 minutes at the highest quality settings I could set.

This model unfortunately needs a tiny bit of support due to it's unique shape, I have managed to print the model without it, but the support is so easy to remove, and leaves no mark, so is worth using here in my opinion.

I printed with an Ender 3 V2, using Cura slicer, and could get very nice results.

My slicer settings:

10% “Zig Zag” Support

20% "Grid" Infill

1.2mm Layer Height

2 Walls (0.8mm)

0.6mm Top/Bottom Thickness

20mm Wall speed

Coming mode: "Not in skin" (+ Avoid Support + Avoid Printed parts)

Ironing Enabled

Notes:

The first few times an SD card is inserted, it may be a little tight, please don't break your SD card, but I found this tolerance worked best to keep it secure after a bit of use.

I tested the fit with a Sony A77ii, and an old Canon Powershot camera. The generic version should hopefully fit most other camera models. If it doesn't fit your camera, let me know, and I can try and design a new variant for it.

I am very new to 3D printing and modelling, and this is the first model I have published, so if there's any issues please let me know : )
