Hot-filament ionization gauge (Bayard-Alpert gauge)

Bayard-Alpert ion gauges offer a linear response ranging from 1 x 10-4 Torr to 1 x 10-9 Torr, with gauge sensitivities between 5 and 20 Torr-1. These gauges can be equipped with one or two filaments, the latter serving as a spare. Two filament materials are available: thoria-coated iridium for oxygen-rich applications and "burn-out" protection, and tungsten for cost-effective use in halogen-containing gases.
