Hot End mod 3 Anet A6
thingiverse
I have multiple Anet A6 printers, but only one of them, Hot End 3, is used for printing PLA due to its improved cooling system and lighter X carriage. The other printers are dedicated to ABS and PET-G printing because they don't have adequate cooling systems or fan configurations to handle PLA effectively. The extruder on these older printers is still mounted on the X-carriage, which was not designed with PLA in mind, making it slower for ABS printing. Lately, I've been using PLA more often because it's cost-effective. I decided to upgrade Hot End 3 by creating a Bowden setup and installing two "snail house" fans to cool the printed parts efficiently. The extruder cable is now secured directly to the Teflon tube instead of being held in a separate holder. This modification has worked remarkably well for me. The printer's controller board is now located under the extruder, and I've removed the original housing to make room for these upgrades. However, printing PET-G with cooling is still a challenge, especially when dealing with large or irregularly shaped objects. In those cases, I prefer using my old Anet hot end mod designed specifically for ABS. If you have any questions or think I've missed something important, feel free to ask.
