Hot End Fan Shroud, and Dial Indicator mount
thingiverse
Fixed the noisy hot-end fan on my CR-10 by pinpointing that most of the noise came from the front hot-end fan. My solution entailed stripping the fan case, drilling out the fan mounting bosses, gluing 3mm nuts to the fan, and then attaching the shroud I designed using 3mm socket head cap screws. The noise level plummeted significantly. Next, I installed a Dial Indicator mount and a Dial Indicator back plate specifically designed for a Starrett indicator, which enables me to precisely tram out my bed in X and Y axes to shim the bed and get it within .008" (.2mm) of the Extruder. This level of precision may be excessive for most users, but it was worth the extra effort.
