I rebuilt the end effector for my Cherry Pi III to use a sprung-string approach instead of the original setup. I opted to change my 10mm magnets out for 10mm ball bearings due to problems with magnet disintegration. Other modifications were made to fit an E3D Mark6 fan and clip below the platform. New holes for springs are located on the J-head mount, along with two corresponding holes on the platform. I moved the hinge for the rod carrier to the top of the carriage, giving back most of the z-height lost by switching to a top-mounted effector design. This is achieved by flipping mini V-wheel mounts upside down. Measurements like diameter can be adjusted within OpenSCAD files to suit different versions. For instance, a version with 8mm balls can be used as well.
