Hot-Dog Spiral Slicer
thingiverse
I crafted this hot-dog spiral cutter to slice through a hot dog's skin, exposing more of the hot dog to the grill's heat. This clever design leads to greater caramelization on the hot dog, resulting in an even better flavor. The tool also elongates the hot dog, which is a welcome bonus since you're often left with scraps of bread and condiments at the end. A further advantage lies in basting hot dogs with BBQ sauce or hot sauce; this spiral cutter lets you coat more surface area. It works best when paired with a very sharp knife, allowing for deeper cuts that promote consistent cooking. Simply attach the knife to the slot and twist the hot dog through. I've used it both with and without rubber bands holding it in place, and I find that unless you're handling a large batch, you can skip the rubber bands altogether.
