This model is optimized for printing with soft PLA. Infill percentage is set at 20% with a layer height of 3,3,0,0. To achieve smooth finishes on the hinges, slow down the print speed towards the end of the process. It takes approximately 40 minutes to print both sides. Soaking the printed part in hot water helps flatten it out. This material exhibits excellent adhesive properties. Begin by applying a thin layer of auto wax to the glass bed and remove any excess with a razor blade. For added non-stick properties, spray a light coat of HD hair spray on top of the wax. This worked well for large flat prints. To create this build, you'll need two holders. For hinge pins, heat and straighten regular PLA until it reaches the desired shape. You can also print with TPU if preferred. Version 2 of this design is optimized for printing with TPU. However, soft PLA may not provide sufficient flexibility for the hinges. To achieve a smooth finish on the hinges, set the layer height to 100% and reduce the speed towards the end of the process. Be aware that the ends may lift up during printing or curl after completion. To prepare the hinge for assembly, spend extra time cleaning it up. This will make the attachment process smoother. The total print time is approximately 32 minutes per side. Side prints are done at 30% infill with a layer height of 4.5,0,0 and a speed of 100%. Total print time for both sides is around 38 minutes. For attaching the hinges to the side, use a glued attachment method. This build adheres well to the cup, making it a great design for this application.
