Hot Bed Cable Retainer - Maker Select V2/Duplicator

Hot Bed Cable management.

I actually started way back when with a Thing that fit over the exposed edge of the back left corner of the frame to prevent the cable from catching when the bed moved, but the cable still just flopped around, and I didn't really care for that.

Then I printed up another Thing, a cable chain installed at the back of the hot bed, but I was not pleased with how that was working out either, as it would get moved/hit by the print cooling fan on large prints.

So I came up with this.

It's 2 parts: the Cable Holder and the Cable Loop.

Firstly, I use an aftermarket GulfCoast Robotics 1-piece Y-plate for my Monoprice Maker Select V2.

This Thing won't work on any other plate without modding it.

The Cable Holder simply press/slide fits in/onto the top of the Y-plate.

The friction fit alone keeps it firmly in place.

Then the Cable Loop friction slide-fits into it and over the hot bed cable to retain it.

It doesn't so much clamp the cable: it just retains it, letting it flex a little, but far less than I was getting with my previous arrangement.

I'm very pleased with how it came out and how it does what I intended it to do.

There are STL, STEP and SLDPRT included.

If you would be so kind, please post your Makes.

Thank You!

Print Settings

Printer:

Monoprice Maker Select V2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.1mm

Infill:

This one is at 10%

Filament:
HatchBox is what I used PLA

Notes:

I put both parts on the plate and printed them together.
The Holder was printed with a long edge on the plate.
The Loop was printed with one curved end on the plate.

I used ONLY Tree Support in Cura 3.6.0, with a Support Line Distance of 5mm

Post-Printing

The Tree Support cleaned out quickly and easily.

The Cable Loop will put a small amount of tension on the Ty-Wrap that is currently on the cable as it comes off the hot bed. Just pay attention when you're sliding the Loop in to ensure the Ty-Wrap slides into the Loop.

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
