Hose Reel Spool

Hose Reel Spool

I've designed a replacement part for my hose reel cart from a major warehouse consumer club. These parts fail in various ways but as you can see from my photos mine broke at the part where the spool enters the hose reel.

The design of the cart is such that water feeds through a fitting that allows rotation of the spool relative to the hose that provides the water supply. The spool design I've created is a form fit replacement of the brass piece that broke on the original design.

I'm providing all of the design files (Fusion 360) as well as an ASA print project for Prusa slicer. Please improve and share this as desired.

NOTE: The pictures depict a prototype part printed in black PLA where the final part was printed in white ASA material.

Print instructions

Utilize 100% infill and ABS or ASA. I printed mine in ASA without any supports. Supports might make the area where the o-rings go a little smoother but then you'd have to remove the remnants of the supports to have a good sealing surface.

You will probably need some Teflon tape or other to provide a seal where the spool attaches to the hose reel. Don't overtighten.

I supported my garden hose that attaches to this fixture using zip ties to reduce any torsional support on the spool. If I were to add anything to this design it would be a way to support the spool on the cart bracket in order to reduce torsional stress on the threads but it works for now.

Good luck!
