Horus
myminifactory
Limestone statue portrays Horus wearing Roman armor; subtle paint remnants remain on the surface; arms are missing. Originally, a crown likely made from another material was inserted into the head's top. The falcon's head is rendered with attention to feather details around its face; human-like eyes and incised pupils characterize the features. The falcon god's feathers double as mail shirt scales (referred to as lorica plumata), which end at the shoulders' lower edge. A knotted belt encircles the waist, hanging below the hips instead of the typical natural waist position. A cloak fastened by a round brooch is pushed back over the shoulders; a separate garment covers the legs. The figure's relaxed pose mirrors that of senior Graeco-Roman deities often depicted in repose.
