The fossil stem base of Calamites sp., a type of horsetail, displays its characteristic nodes and internodal ribs, featuring horizontal rings and vertical lines respectively. This specimen originates from the Carboniferous period in Illinois and is part of the Cornell University Paleobotanical Collection (CUPC) located in Ithaca, New York.
