This artifact was unearthed by archaeologists at James Madison's Montpelier and carefully examined using a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner. By digitizing this object, researchers aimed to enhance the online presence of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities Encyclopedia Virginia, which focuses on slavery in Virginia. The project received financial support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. A special thank you goes out to James Madison's Montpelier for allowing us to share this item with the public.
