Horns for costume
thingiverse
I added a custom attachment with a ring at its base, enabling secure stitching onto various costumes or wigs. Print Settings Rafts: None, as desired for smooth initial layer adhesion. Supports: Disabled for an uninterrupted and stable print process. Resolution: 0.3 mm precision for accurate detailed modeling. Infill: 40% infill density with 'infill where needed' strategy, producing a hollow model with strategically placed solid sections for maximum structural integrity. Notes: The miniature horn's slender design required minimal weight to ensure stable upright positioning on a Halloween-themed wig. Thanks to the slic3r infill setting 'only infill where needed,' I achieved the desired near-hollow construction, reserving 40% infill only at essential areas. Combining a 0.5 mm nozzle and two perimeter walls provided sufficient strength for withstanding potential handling stresses. A single miniature horn measuring 142mm in height took approximately 4.5 hours to print using these optimized settings. Regrettably, some slic3r misconfigurations led to temporary printer halts; promptly addressing these issues allowed me to maintain a reliable print process throughout. Indeed, there remains substantial room for refinement and potential improvements in optimizing print parameters for enhanced efficiency.
