Human: This Manteño oven was discovered in the center of a Manteña house with stone foundations in the foggy forest of Rio Blanco in the province of Manabí. Two jars are visible. The outer jar is the oldest oven found broken and without a base, which was repaired by the inner jar that was found complete. This work is the result of the Florida Atlantic University field school of archaeology 2018 season. Directed by Valentina Martínez with the assistance of Tasia Scott, Colin Waldron, Danny Rodolfo Manrique, and Andrés Garzón-Oechsle.
