UPDATED 29/03/22 to include motor retaining clips, missing from first share. After using this model, with some padding for clearance, to accommodate the Hornby chassis in an 0-16.5 model of Ffestiniog Railway PRINCE, I found that a lot more clearance was needed at wheels and rods level. Fortunately I printed only the bottom cm of the model to check before printing the whole thing. (Prince is very low slung) The new (last couple of years, Chinese produced) 0-4-0 steam loco chassis is so unlike the earlier pocket rockets, and is now a useful contender for DIY printed locos. I used two in the Double Fairlie 0-16.5 model also posted on Thingiverse. I design a body and then add the loco chassis dummy, converted to a hole, to remove the necessary stuff to accommodate the chassis. Chassis can, of course, be butchered at either end to fit, and the body design could be manipulated if necessary. NOTE I model the loco in mid air, taking vertical measurements from rail top level. So I can slide the dummy chassis straight under. I usually chop the model into chunks for printing after that. This .stl model can be clad with padding to give more clearance in the body. I think it could be nice if people found this method handy with other mechanisms and shared their dummy mechanisms. I would be interested if anybody develops this idea,
