Human: Typical ant colonies are not exactly aesthetically pleasing, something you wouldn't want to have in your living room or office and look at as a decorative item besides being curious, which is what happens with aquariums for example. With the idea of this last hobby, I thought it would be a good idea to create an 3D printed ant colony that looked like aquariums many homes have in their living rooms, with a lower shelf to store different accessories. The result is what you see here, an ant colony with a foraging box on top and a space below with two doors to house both the ant colony and various accessories while allowing our ants to have a dark and quiet place to live and us when we feel like observing them. It has a double humidity system via PVA sponge at both sides that is recharged from the top. If the colony reaches a very high number of individuals, the ant colony can be extracted to move it to a larger one by simply blocking the exit and removing the foraging box. Everything is printable except: - 14 M2x8 screws - PVA foam - EVA rubber - 2mm transparent polystyrene sheets (it's cheap and easy to cut) *The ant colony has been tested with a Messor Barbarus colony that so far develops without any issues.
