The Beech Baron aircraft served as the inspiration for this print, its excitement to fly undeniable. Assembling 3D prints is a true delight, with each step a satisfying experience akin to building with Legos. This design was crafted to allow for multiple colors and components to stand out individually. The total build consists of 82 parts (including 8 bearings), making it an excellent educational model suitable for classrooms. The gear system in the back boasts a 5-to-1 gearing ratio, requiring only slight rotation of the knob to achieve movement five times faster. Each connecting rod features a 685ZZ bearing that can be press-fit, its ideal ID-to-OD ratio perfect for low-load situations like this one. Tinkercad is a software often underestimated in its capabilities. Initially starting with simpler goals, I soon discovered its immense power after becoming familiar with it. If you can visualize a part in your mind, Tinkercad can replicate it with ease. Following the completion of this project, Tinkercad has become an integral part of my workflow. In conclusion, this build is not for the faint of heart; patience is required, especially during assembly. Huge thanks to Greg Zumwalt's inspiring models, which encouraged me to push boundaries with colors and inner mechanics. I eagerly await seeing people print this model in various colors and sizes (message me if you desire a specific scale) and display it proudly. This project serves as a tribute to the open-source hardware concept and its values. UPDATE: The "Planetary Gear Bearing Housing" STL file was replaced with the correct one, featuring three holes necessary for locating and aligning the "Middle Planetary Gears" and their pins.
