Horizontal Garden Flag Mount

This project is an alternative mount designed specifically for large garden flags, measuring 24 inches or wider in width. Typically, we rely on a flimsy mount where a pole is placed at an angled or semi-horizontal position. However, this approach can be problematic in areas with high winds, as the flag tends to get wrapped around the pole all too frequently. Yes, even those marketed as "tangle-free" solutions often fail to deliver. So, I created a new mount that allows garden flags to be mounted in a horizontal position, complete with spacers to keep the flag centered and a quick release mechanism for tool-free flag changes. By mounting the flag this way, it has been shown that even strong winds in March and April will not wrap the flag around the pole. The design accommodates poles up to 26mm in diameter. If you need a different size, you will have to modify the .scad file accordingly. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: Not required Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.30 mm Infill: 20% for all parts except the clip, which should be 80% Notes: It is recommended to use PLA or similar strong filaments for printing this design. ABS and softer, flexible filaments that can lose their shape in sunlight are not recommended. To print the required components, you will need to print one closed mount, one open mount, one clip, two rings, and pairs of spacers to cover any remaining width on the pole. If you need different size spacers, you can modify the .scad file accordingly. Post-Printing Instructions: To assemble the pole as shown in the photo, place two posts 48 inches apart, center-to-center. Mount the fixed block on one side and the open mount on the other, with the clip facing upwards. Cut the pole to length, leaving at least 1/4 inch of play to make it easy to remove the pole.
