Horizontal Dry-Box Set

Horizontal Dry-Box Set

thingiverse

Inspired by the dry-boxes found on Thingiverse, specifically the one at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1359419 and the other at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1067052, I decided to create my own box that could accommodate FoxSmart filament spools with their smaller inner diameter hole compared to most standard spools. This custom design can fit spools with an inner diameter ranging from 32mm, suitable for FoxSmart and similar spools, up to 52.5mm, compatible with MakerBot and similar spools. To ensure a precise fit, the nut must be resized according to your printer's tolerances, as it is designed to be an exact match. I scaled mine up by 0.052% and had no issues. The core/screw of this dry-box is meant to hold two 608zz bearings in place through press-fitting. The inlet for the filament features a design that accommodates a foam filter to clean the filament as it's fed, although this is an optional feature. The base of this project originates from the Vertex K8400 3D printer and can be found on Thingiverse at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1450175 for your convenience; I have also included it in this design for ease of use. A significant update was made to the nut to secure larger spool hole diameters, with a built-in washer added to provide extra support. Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding this project. CAD programs used: Siemens NX.10 and Tinkercad
