Hopper

https://youtu.be/JVWtLrmafSk "Hopper" is a 3D printed hopping mechanism powered by two springs and a mass, which consists of a motor, motor holder, switch, battery, gears, axle, and cams. The mechanism compresses the springs before releasing them to propel the mass upward to an abrupt stop, causing Hopper to hop. Inspired by classic windup and battery-powered hopping toys from my childhood, I designed "Hopper" to demonstrate the difference between potential energy (stored in the springs via the battery, motor, motor holder, switch, gears, axle, and cams) and kinetic energy (released from the springs and resulting velocity of the mass). The design is also intended to entertain the grandkids. As usual, I may have forgotten a file or two, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I make plenty of mistakes, but I'm always happy to help. Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced with Cura 4.3.0, and printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 3 Extended and an Ultimaker S5. Note: I receive no compensation for the design, equipment, parts, or materials used in this model.
