Hoover Windtunnel Air - Debris Canister Release

Hoover Windtunnel Air - Debris Canister Release

I replaced the canister release on my vacuum with a new one that I designed using Fusion 360. The original release was made of injection molded plastic, which turned out to be too weak for its purpose. After several revisions, I came up with a working design that fit perfectly and functioned just like the original part. It feels snug and secure in place, giving me confidence that it will last. The file "spring base" is a small cylindrical component that extends the reach of the internal spring by acting as a riser to give it the necessary clearance. The original part had a cruciform protrusion inside its hollow base, but I decided to create this rise that rests in the spring cavity instead, giving the proper return travel. Once you've taken apart your vacuum, you'll see how my design integrates with the rest of the machine.
