Hoover Dam (mesh only)
thingiverse
While vacationing in Las Vegas we took a bus tour to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. While on the bridge in front of the dam, I thought that I would take a picture every 10 feet (every 3 meters) or so. After the vacation when I got back to the house, I ran the pictures thru meshroom photogrammetry software and here are the results. It's just the mesh only so it's not 3d printable as is. Maybe someone with blender and meshlab skills can clean it up and make a topographic map out of it for 3d printing. Anyway, it didn't turn out too bad. You can make out the dam and the canyon walls. Some things like the river (lake mead) and such are just blank but it would just be a flat plane anyway. I would have liked to have taken pictures all across the bridge but we were limited on time so I wasn't at liberty to do so. Even though, even going half way across it was enough to make a scan and it seemed to work. A few things are occluded but most of everything can be made out. It's a little bumpy but meshlab and some smoothing algorithm I figure would clean it up. If you take and clean it up and make a decent 3d model out of it, please let me know so I can 3d print it too for myself. I would include the textured map with the colors and all but Thingiverse has a size limit so it wouldn't let me upload that so sorry, it's just the mesh only. It's sort of upside down so you'll have to rotate it to figure out where it is in 3d space. And yes, the bus tour had a lot of cheesy "dam" jokes. Sigh. I hope you enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_yUQeNTCwM
