Hookknife sheath for Morakniv Erik Frost 162
thingiverse
I didn't want to regard my hookknife with disdain and fear anymore. So I designed a sleek sheath for it, freeing me from worry about it cutting up everything or getting dulled in the process. I also wanted to challenge myself by modeling something that others could benefit from as well. Making a sheath from leather with a retaining strap would have been easier and cooler, but I chose to use a magnet instead. The biggest problem was getting the shape of the sheath close to the blade. I drew the blade's silhouette on finely squared paper and used those 2.5mm squares to help with measurements. Luckily, the hook-shape is bent against a pipe-shaped object, making it relatively easy to find the center. From there, I simply added blade width and tolerances, building up the walls. Hopefully, a fellow maker will find this useful. The magnet I used was 8mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The wall between the magnet and the thickest part of the blade is 0.8mm, so they stick together nicely.
