Hookah is a method of smoking where the tobacco smoke is cooled and purified by being drawn through water before it reaches the smoker's lungs. Typically used by a group of people at the same time, a hookah typically contains an air pipe (also known as a "stem" or "water tube") that holds the coal used to heat the tobacco. There are many types of shisha, the smoking material most often associated with hookah use. It comes in a variety of flavors such as apple, grapefruit and cherry among others. When smoking, each user takes one end of the hose pipe attached at the other end of the stem or tube containing the coals to smoke shisha from it; once a person exhales the water is ready for another user because it cools off quickly after inhalation leaving fresh hot tobacco for whoever picks up.
